Norm was founded in 1990 in Taiwan's famous ˇ§science cityˇ¨, Hsinchu. From its location next to the famous Hsinfeng Golf Course, one can look down from the highlands of the Hsinchu countryside on the Taiwan Strait to the west. The golf course next-door means the view is unobstructed, the air fresh, and the scenery beautiful in every direction, making it an ideal location for product research and development. From this vantage, Norm looks out over a vast world.

Top-level high-tech R&D talent and an international perspective are the source of Norm's core competitiveness. A spin-off company of the high-tech Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Norm embraces the same ideals. The ability to integrate applications from various fields including mechanics, electronics, opto-electronics, and materials, and the efforts in product development to produce original results, allow Norm to create brand new product R&D, and thus to attract the attention of the market.

At its very beginning Norm made a great accomplishment in high-tech integration with its Automatic Atmosphere Manager (AAM). At that time, already famous overnight, Norm built on this to establish a new standard for home air conditioning technologies. More important, Norm used this to build a superior ability in product integration development. It is its Total Solution for ODM and OEM that has received the most enthusiastic reception from customers.
